Suicide bombers strike near U.S. base in Kabul, killing 2 guards

KABUL — A pair of suicide bombers in Afghan military uniforms penetrated the most heavily guarded district of this capital early Wednesday, killing two Afghan security guards and wounding five civilians in blasts at a checkpoint near the main U.S. military headquarters and half a dozen other international facilities.

India hangs lone surviving terrorist from 2008 Mumbai attacks

NEW DELHI — India on Wednesday hanged the lone surviving gunman from the deadly terror attack in Mumbai four years ago that left 166 people dead, including six Americans.

Ajmal Amir Kasab, a Pakistani citizen, was one of 10 heavily-armed terrorists who sailed into India's financial hub of Mumbai and launched a series of attacks on two five-star hotels, the city's main train station, a restaurant and a Jewish prayer center.
