Ndamukong Suh won't be suspended, could be fined

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh will not be suspended for the kick he delivered to the groin of Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub on Thanksgiving.

"Our office has notified the Lions that [Suh] will not be suspended for last Thursday's incident. It will be reviewed for a potential fine," Greg Aiello, the NFL'ssenior vice president of communications, announced in a tweetMonday afternoon.

NHL, NHLPA to meet with federal mediators

With NHL labor negotiations locked in a stalemate, the two sides have agreed to try a new approach and involve the help of federal mediators in reaching a new collective bargaining agreement.

Before going any further, it's important to note that the mediation is not binding. The mediators bring a neutral third-party perspective to help advance negotiations, but the two sides are not forced to accept the suggestions.

Virginia LB Steve Greer, LT Oday Aboushi named first-team all-ACC

The season might not have gone as planned on the field for Virginia football, but two of its seniors got a nice going away present with the announcement of the all-ACC teams Monday afternoon.

Linebacker Steve Greer and left tackle Oday Aboushi were both named first-team all-ACC for their performances this season. The Cavaliers have now had at least one player earn first-team honors in 25 of the past 26 seasons.

Jammal Brown again misses practice as Tuesday's deadline approaches

Injured right tackle Jammal Brown appears to be headed for the Injured Reserve list after missing yet another practice with ongoing hip injuries.

The Redskins have until Tuesday to make a decision on Brown's future, but with his inability to get back on the field, it appears that the team will place him on the season-ending injury list.

On Thursday, Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan compared Robert Griffin III to Cool Hand Luke, which sparked conversation when the young quarterback was unfamiliar with the 1967 movie character. Upon learning that his reference missed its mark with RGIII, Shanahan sent him a copy of the film.

The Washington Redskins have placed rookie inside linebacker Keenan Robinson on Injured Reserve, and have filled his roster spot with third-year pro Roddrick Muckelroy a team source confirmed Monday.

Robinson, Washington's fourth-round pick (119th overall) out of Texas, suffered a torn pectoral muscle late in last Thursday's game at Dallas.

I was in a bar two blocks from Verizon Center during most of Saturday's Wizards-Bobcats game. There were nine TVs in the bar. None were tuned to the Wizards. I asked the bartender if we could get one on the game. Then I apologized. Didn't want to hurt business.

The all-ACC teams will be released at 3 p.m. today. Various members of the Maryland football team's defense figure to have the best shot at making either the first or second team. Joe Vellano seems a lock to earn his third honors, while linebackers Demetrius Hartsfield and Darin Drakeford each figure to have shots. Hartsfield, despite missing the season's last three games with an ACL tear, still tied for the team lead in total tackles, while Drakeford was second on the Terps in tackles for a loss and tied with Vellano for the team lead in sacks.

Nationals hand out playoff shares

The Nationals divvied up more than $2 million in playoff shares, Major League Baseball announced, handing out 49 full shares along with 6.65 partial shares and three cash awards.

For making the National League Division Series, the Nationals received $2,124,312.75 million from the players' pool generated by playoff gate receipts. For the 49 Nationals who received one, a full share was worth $37,045.32.
