• Lenny Kravitz will play Marvin Gaye in a biopic about the late R&B singer, reports Rolling Stone. Kravitz, 48, will portray the the D.C. native during Gaye's final years, when he battled addictions and tried to restart his career before he was killed by his father in 1984. This will be Kravitz's first leading movie role; he's had supporting parts in "The Hunger Games" and "The Butler."

Jill Kelley, the Tampa socialite caught up in the David Petraeus scandal, is losing her "honorary consul" title from South Korea because she used it for personal gain, reports the Associated Press. During the Republican National Convention, Kelley touted her connection with Petraeus and wanted a 2 percent commission for a no-bid coal deal with South Korea, said Adam Victor, president of TransGas Development Systems. Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Kyou-hyun weighed in Monday: "It's not suitable to the status of honorary consul that [she] sought to be involved in commercial projects and peddle influence." Kelley received the ceremonial honor — a goodwill ambassador with no official privileges — in August and really got into it: She had license plates with the title on her Mercedes and asked police for "diplomatic protection" when reporters surrounded her house early this month.

Friendship bench heals all wounds at Florida elementary school

For most of Acacia Woodley's 10 years, she has noticed people staring at her.

The sixth-grader at Palm Bay Elementary School in Florida was born without a right hand; her left hand is deformed.

"Some people say they feel sorry for me. I tell them not to be," she said. "I don't care that I'm different. I like that I'm different."
