Emeka Okafor catches falling Wizards fan

As Emeka Okafor left the court following the Wizards' win over the Trail Blazers on Wednesday night -- in which he made the winning free throws -- he distributed the usual high-fives to the fans dangling their hands over the railings that line the players' tunnel at Verizon Center. One fan overreached and began to tumble over the partition about eight feet above the floor.

After a franchise-record 12 losses to open the season, the Washington Wizards showed that winning can be an excruciating experience as well.

The Wizards blew 15-point fourth-quarter lead and put fans at Verizon Center through an unnecessarily suspenseful finish before defeating the Portland Trail Blazers, 84-82, on Wednesday night.

Washington Nationals weighing options for new spring training home

For the past nine years, the Montreal Expos-Washington Nationals franchise has made its spring training home in 8,100-seat Space Coast Stadium in Viera, on the east coast of Florida. But for at least the past two years, the Nationals have sought to move out of the somewhat isolated, 19-year-old stadium, having grown tired of their long bus rides for Grapefruit League games.
