What's the best way to try to stop Eli Manning and the Giants?
Nov 27th 2012, 12:00

With a whole week to kill before Monday night's now-huge Redskins-Giants clash at FedEx, we'll have time to analyze this thing from every angle. So might as well get an early start.

In the first Redskins-Giants meeting, Washington outgained New York 480-393, including a 248-64 rushing advantage, but was hurt by four turnovers. The 77-yard Eli Manning-to-Victor Cruz touchdown pass with 1 minute 13 seconds left was such a gut punch because it came two plays and 19 seconds after RGIII hit Santana Moss for the go-ahead score. It also represented the low point (unless you can think of another) for a defense that this season has struggled with its pass rush and to cover in the secondary.

But the results were the same as usual in a 118-92 loss that included the starters shooting 21 for 49, with rookie Bradley Beal missing 9 of 13 shots and new acquisitions Emeka Okafor and forward Trevor Ariza, both set to earn a combined $43 million over two years, totaling nine points.

Nov 27th 2012, 02:16

When the Washington Redskins lost their highly productive tight end, Fred Davis, to a season-ending Achilles' tendon tear last month, then promptly re-signed popular veteran Chris Cooley, some observers figured the team might simply plug Cooley into Davis's spot in the lineup and try to keep the offense moving.

Maryland basketball standout Brene Moseley faces knee rehab again
Nov 27th 2012, 01:19

The instant Brene Moseley planted her left leg and heard the familiar pop, she had no doubt. Maryland's promising sophomore point guard was out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Adding to the exasperation were the setting and circumstances: an intrasquad scrimmage at Comcast Center on Oct. 21 during which Moseley absorbed no contact when her knee buckled. Teammates did all they could to console Moseley, suggesting she try to walk. If the joint could withstand that impact, they figured perhaps it would indicate a less severe prognosis.
