D.C. police shoot male near Howard U.

D.C. police shot and wounded a male Wednesday night in a Northwest neighborhood just north of Howard University, authorities said.

Shortly before 11 p.m., members of a plainclothes police unit were patrolling near Georgia Avenue and Kenyon Street NW when they approached a male when they saw him holding his side, said Assistant Police Chief Alfred Durham.

Maryland women rout Nebraska, 90-71, in ACC-Big Ten Challenge

Alyssa Thomas scored 25 points and Tianna Hawkins scored 21 to lead No. 11 Maryland to a 90-71 win over No. 21 Nebraska on Wednesday night in Lincoln, Neb.

Hawkins (Riverdale Baptist) also grabbed 12 rebounds while Thomas had eight assists and six steals for the Terrapins (4-1). Laurin Mincy scored 16 points for Maryland.
