If Redskins are to withstand the pressure, they'll need to create some
Nov 20th 2012, 18:48

Before we get too excited about one good performance by the Washington Redskins' defense, let's be honest: Hitting tackling dummies is tougher than facing the Philadelphia Eagles' offense.

In his first career start, Eagles rookie quarterback Nick Foles seemed even more uncomfortable in the pocket than shaky Redskins safety Madieu Williams does in coverage. The only thing Philadelphia's offensive line was effective at throughout Washington's 31-6 blowout victory was holding.

Nov 20th 2012, 17:36

Make a note for next year: Tuesday morning is a fine time to begin the Thanksgiving getaway. The D.C. region's major escape routes looked pretty clear through the morning rush.

The commuter paths inside the Capital Beltway had many of their usual jams, though it was interesting to see that the west side of the Beltway in Virginia, where the 495 Express Lanes opened over the weekend, was in decent shape, based on traffic maps and camera views.

Why private school vouchers aren't enough
Nov 20th 2012, 16:42

If I were a D.C. parent with little money and a child in a bad public school, I would happily accept a taxpayer-supported voucher to send my kid to a private school. D.C.'s booze boom
Nov 20th 2012, 14:55

Should it be easier to open a bar, club or restaurant in the District? That's what the D.C. Council is now grappling with particularly the question of who should be able to challenge a business's liquor license application. Tim Craigexplains in the Post: Currently, any group of five individuals can protest a license. A bill sponsored by Jim Graham (D-Ward 1) would limit that provision to persons living within 400 feet of the establishment in question. The switch has set up a battle between neighborhood activists, wary of losing any leverage in booze battles, and local business owners, who are sick of spending thousands and thousands of dollars fighting tiny groups of protesters.
