Jan 17th 2013, 01:23

The wins for John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins haven't come with the same ease and certainly not the regularity in NBA as they did when the duo played together for one season at Kentucky.

Now in their third seasons in the league, Wall and Cousins have both joined teams in Washington and Sacramento, respectively, that have remained stuck in the lottery, which has been discouraging for both of them.

Ray Lewis's last run fuels Baltimore Ravens' Super Bowl bid — or does it?
Jan 17th 2013, 00:24

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Ray Lewis, for so long, has leaned on the emotional and spiritual elements of football, life and their intersection. Those are what have pushed him to this, the end of his 17th season, the end of his career. He has either one more game – Sunday's AFC championship game at New England – or two, if his Baltimore Ravens win and advance to the Super Bowl. Swirl all the emotions and spirits together, all that Lewis has meant to his franchise and his city, and it could seem a combustible combination.

Lance Armstrong's confession seems to be just another calculation
Jan 16th 2013, 16:40

Sadly, even Lance Armstrong's contrition is contrived, it seems. His mea culpa to Oprah Winfrey — always guaranteed to bump a miscreant's Q rating — is not actually about apologizing to his fans and coming clean, so to speak, about his use of performance-enhancing drugs. It's about reducing liability and getting back on a bike in competition (in the triathlon; one assumes even an ego such as Armstrong's knows his Tour de France days are over).
