Tim Tebow sidesteps questions about future at Sugar Bowl

Tim Tebow was back in a familiar spot -- on the sidelines -- Wednesday night.

This time, the New York Jets' occasional quarterback was rooting on the Florida Gators, the team he led to two national championships, in the Sugar Bowl. It didn't work out too well, with Louisville upsetting the Gators, but there was a comfort level for Tebow.

NHLPA doesn't file disclaimer, 'some progress' made in labor negotiations

The NHLPA's self-imposed deadline to file a disclaimer of interest came and went Wednesday night without a filing from the union, suggesting that the players believe that continuing talks between the two sides is the best way to move forward toward an agreement.

Seahawks get CB Brandon Browner back vs. Redskins

When the Seattle Seahawks secondary hits the field Sunday to take on Robert Griffin III and the Redskins offense, they'll have an extra weapon at their disposal. Starting cornerback Brandon Browner missed the last four regular season games for violation the league's drug policybut is due to make his return to the lineup for the playoff matchup at FedEx Field.

Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll called getting Browner back "a big deal."

"He's been a big part of what we've done here and he's been a significant factor in the style that we play," Carroll said. "So when he comes back, we'll see how he does. It's been a month so we'll see how he is, how rusty he is."

Browner, who had three interceptions before his suspension last month, returns at an important time, as the Seahawks lost a bit of secondary depth this week, placing third-year reserve cornerback Walter Thurmond on injured reserves. Otherwise, Carroll said his squad should enter Sunday's game relatively healthy.

Cornerback Marcus Trufant and linebacker Leroy Hill were both able to practice Wednesday, as was receiver Sidney Rice and tackle Breno Giacomini.

Redskins vs. Seahawks: Which fan base should be more confident?

One of the slightly endearing and surprising things about the nearly 600 comments on yesterday's Opening Kick was that quite a few of the ones I read were from Seahawks fans with handles like 'SeattleRob,' confidently predicting a win on Sunday or drawing conclusions like 'Russell Wilson has thrown more touchdown passes than Robert Griffin, therefore he's the better rookie quarterback.'
