Loudoun Board of Supervisors to Eugene Delgaudio: 'No committees for you. Two years.'

Everyone's favorite orange hat-wearing politician, Sterling's Eugene Delgaudio, got a bit of a public face-slapping from his colleagues on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Wednesday: They formed their four standing committees and left him off of all of them. This is pretty unusual, seeing as he's been elected to the county board four times, and was previously serving on two of the committees.

Former jail guard expected to reach plea agreement in Ronnie White case

A former Prince George's County jail guard accused of ignoring a dying inmate suspected of killing a police officer is expected to reach a plea agreement with federal prosecutors on Friday.

Anthony McIntosh was scheduled to go to trial next week at the U.S. District Court in Greenbelt on federal civil rights and obstruction charges. Instead, a plea hearing has been set for Friday, signaling that a deal is likely be entered.

Mailbox bombing probed at U.S. Treasury official's Lorton home

An explosive device destroyed a mailbox at the Lorton home of the Treasury Department's inspector general Monday, authorities said.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Fairfax County police and fire officials are investigating the incident at the the home of Eric M. Thorson, and they have removed evidence to be analyzed at a lab, authorities said. No one was injured.

Man found dead in ventilation shaft most likely fell, D.C. police chief says

A Maryland man who was found dead 50 feet down a ventilation shaft after celebrating New Year's Eve with friends in Adams Morgan most likely died in an accident, District police said Thursday.

"It appeared that he fell," D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier said. Earlier, police said in a statement there appeared to be no sign of foul play.

Major development expected to come to New Carrollton Metro stop

A major development, with offices, retail and housing, is expected at the New Carrollton Metro station.

In a joint development deal with Metro, Forest City Washington and Urban Atlantic will build on 39 acres Metro owns near the stop. The project is expected to include 2 million to 4 million square feet of space and is estimated to be worth $1 billion, according to Metro.
