$11 million here, $11 million there Dec 3rd 2012, 13:00 The D.C. Council's 19th legislative session winds down this month, and much remains on legislators' plates. As Tim Craig reports today, the council will vote tomorrow on lowering traffic fines, a new parking scheme for the disabled, a Bloomingdale flooding relief fund and allowing "urban beekeeping." They will also vote on whether to extend an $11 million tax break to the developers of Howard Town Center, a project that city finance officials say doesn't need tax incentives to move forward. Still, a council committee voted unanimously to approve the deal last week. Said Jack Evans (D-Ward 2), chair of the panel, said he believes the project will be a "catalyst" for an area that's pretty well catalyzed already.
