Tim Tebow "disappointed" at being called a quitter

Remember when Tim Tebow was "excited" to be joining the New York Jets and kept using that word that over and over and over?

Ah, the good old days. Less than a year later, the words he uses are "disappointment" and "frustration" as the Rex said/Tim said report that he'd asked out of the Wildcat formation, the only one in which he is used, continues to devour the Jets. He may have been hit in the helmet by a Mark Sanchez pass and leapfrogged by No. 3 quarterback Greg McElroy when Sanchez was benched and relegated to special teams and gadget formations. But the fresh humiliation concerns something far more serious: whether he is a locker-room problem and a quitter. As has been the case his entire NFL career, Tebow found that he was back to being a polarizing figure.

Cooley calls Redskins' winning streak 'the most exciting part of my career'

Tight end Chris Cooley hasn't exactly had a huge role in the Redskins' offense since the team re-signed him in October. He has only one catch in his eight games since returning, and that came last Sunday at Philadelphia.

Everything had been going so much better for the Los Angeles Lakers. Their Christmas Day victory over the Knicks was their fifth in a row and they'd clawed their way to .500. What passed for controversy concerned Steve Nash's questionable hairstyle.

How he beats you: While DeMarcus Ware receives the majority of attention on the Cowboys defense, Anthony Spencer provides an able counterweight from the opposite outside linebacker spot. In his sixth season, Spencer has been every bit as productive as Ware, with a career-high 10 sacks and 87 total tackles, most on the Cowboys.

As John Wall targets January, Wizards continue point guard shuffle

John Wall told Yahoo! Sports at halftime of the Wizards' 87-84 loss to Cleveland on Wednesday night that he has targeted "some time in January" for his return to the team. Wall has increased his workload in recent days and hasn't experienced any setbacks, but still wants to tread lightly with the stress injury in his left patella.

Robert Griffin III, Trent Williams, Lorenzo Alexander named to Pro Bowl

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, already the owner of several franchise and NFL records for a rookie signal-caller, can add another accolade to his résumé: Pro Bowl quarterback.

Griffin was named Wednesday evening to the NFC's Pro Bowl roster, along with special teams captain Lorenzo Alexander and left tackle Trent Williams, both of whom also were first-time selections. Rookie running back Alfred Morris and 15-year veteran linebacker London Fletcher were selected as alternates.
