Biggest Redskins-Cowboys game since he bought the team. Might as well watch it with Joe Gibbs. And Joe Theismann. And Chris Wallace.

(Thanks, @xmasape.)

CINCINNATI — The Baltimore Ravens' starters who did suit up began heading to the sideline about midway through the first quarter. I mean, this was already the biggest night in the history of FedEx Field. Now we've got people getting engaged on the field before kickoff? Cheerleaders, even?

Aikman not impressed with Redskins-Cowboys rivalry
Dec 30th 2012, 23:57

One thing nearly all Redskins fans believe is that Fox analyst Troy Aikman -- at least subtly -- is forever biased against Washington. Doc Walker, the longtime Dallas hater and ESPN 980 talker, said as much during an interview with Mike Shanahan last week.

Holiday tournament in the District offers more than just basketball
Dec 30th 2012, 23:18

High school basketball teams seeking to compete in tournaments over the winter break didn't have to look far. Across the D.C. area, there were more than 60 such tournaments.

That's why the 4th Annual National Title IX Holiday Invitational Classic has tried to set itself apart. With three of the 16 registered teams ranked in the top 20 in the nation, the caliber of play might have been enticing enough for some coaches to participate in the three-day tournament. Some teams may also have been lured by the local tours around Washington. But tournament organizers hope that at least a small part of the decision to come is because of the workshops and conferences offered. Sessions for parents, coaches and players — on topics ranging from NCAA eligibility to social media to health and fitness — are geared to get players thinking about life beyond high school.

Rob Ryan says Redskins 'slaughtered us'
Dec 30th 2012, 21:09

Some Redskins fans took offense when Dallas defensive coordinator Rob Ryan said the Cowboys did ok against the Redskins' "college crap" on Thanksgiving Day. I never thought it was offensive, since Ryan made that comment in the context of pointing out how Washington's down-field game brutalized the Dallas defense.

Dec 30th 2012, 20:27

Updated at 6 p.m. with multiple reports

Andy Reid was put on notice by owner Jeff Lurie when training camp began that the Philadelphia Eagles needed to make a dramatic improvement in order for him to keep his job, so it comes as no surprise that, with the team at 4-12, reports are beginning to surface that he will not be returning as coach.

Garrett Temple was about 14 when he asked his father, Collis, why basketball was so important to his family. Week 17: Cowboys at Redskins
Dec 30th 2012, 18:31
Redskins, Cowboys, Vikings, Bears -- Oh My!
Dec 30th 2012, 17:52

Getting set for a full day of football, on the final week of the regular season, that has so many implications for the Redskins.

Think about that for a bit.

Not since 2007, when Joe Gibbs's final Redskins team won the last four games of the regular season to sneak into the playoffs at 9-7, has Washington's Week 17 game meant anything -- at least for the Redskins. The quarterback five years ago was Todd Collins, a veteran placeholder. The whole feel of the franchise has changed since then.

Morning review: Pressure defense worked wonders for Terps
Dec 30th 2012, 16:47

For most of a 2012-13 season still in its infancy, the Maryland basketball team relied on a simple man-to-man defense with little pomp. Hedge high pick-and-rolls then recover in the post. Switch dribble handoffs around the perimeter. Pressure hard then rotate if necessary.
