Already, an Oct. 19 report by the OSCEs Election Observation mission unearthed reports of abuse of administrative resources in support of the ruling Party of Regions, threats of violence against opposition campaign workers and at least 25 complaints alleging campaign violations.

How bad is Hurricane Sandy? A distressing photo from Haiti

Hurricane Sandy, currently approaching the U.S. East Coast, tore through theCaribbean this week. It killed 11 in Cuba, making it the deadliest storm there since 2005. Above is a photo showing some of its impact in Haiti, where it killed 16. Officials there have evacuated more than 1,000 people from the internal displacement camps that have held thousands of Haitians since the 2010 earthquake.

Abusive China teacher fired after Weibo outcry

Police arrested two teachers in Chinas Zhejiang province this week after a photo circulated on the countrys microblogging site Weibo showed one of them lifting a student by his ears, the BBC reported.

Yan Yanhong reportedly told police she did it for fun.
