D.C. region having quiet commute, despite some Sandy problems
Oct 30th 2012, 12:22

Leaving home for the newsroom this morning, I thought I'd be reporting to you about commuters' performance at darkened intersections, or about ways to avoid streets with downed trees.

Not a one did I see on a nine-mile trip from Silver Spring into the District. And the traffic at 7 a.m. was much, much lighter than normal. The guys at a parking garage near The Post told me they may close early today, because no one came to work today.

Not quite over yet
Oct 30th 2012, 11:01

Sandy's still hanging around, and while the D.C. region might have been spared the vicious storm surge that's devastated New York City, the National Weather Service is warning that the worst riparian flooding in more than 15 years is still to come. D.C. area forecast: Sandy lingers today, then gradual improvement
Oct 30th 2012, 08:00

Sandy showed us her worst yesterday through last night and now she is left to spin out a slow death pretty close by. We are still contending with rain and occasional wind gusts along with chilly air that is wrapping around the decaying low. I wouldn't even be surprised to see some snowflakes mix in north and west of the city, particularly in the early morning. Slow improvement carries us into Wednesday with partly sunny skies late this week into the weekend. Temperatures stay toward the cool side, featuring highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s this week with some 30s possible this weekend.
