Late-night TV shows succumbed to Hurricane Sandy on Monday, joining scores of prime-time series that shut down shooting on the East Coast because, duh, it's TV, not the race to cure cancer.

Album review: Calvin Harris's '18 Months'
Oct 29th 2012, 21:10

Scottish DJ Calvin Harris isn't exactly an innovator. He's more like a craftsman — one with a deep Rolodex and an egalitarian streak. Harris, like his only real compatriots, Deadmau5 and David Guetta, is in great part responsible for the recent mainstreaming of electronic dance music. His collaboration with Rihanna, the behemoth hit "We Found Love," (included here, in all its mopey/ecstatic awesomeness) is to EDM crossover songs what T-Rex was to dinosaurs.

Jimmy Kruyne, the shirtless horse-mask jogger in the storm, explains his stunt
Oct 29th 2012, 20:05

The TV news crew was broadcasting the live scene of rainswept Rhode Island Avenue early Monday when something jolted NBC4's Megan McGrath out of her very serious report on storm preparations.

"There's a shirtless man jogging wearing a horse mask!" she chortled, and yes, that's exactly what it was. Within 90 minutes, the video clip had gone viral nationally. And that, ladies and gentleman, is how Jimmy Kruyne became a star.

In other news: Tom Cruise's neighbor gets tasered
Oct 29th 2012, 18:35

•Well, this will be a hot topic at the next Beverly Hills neighborhood association meeting. A security guard stopped an intruder he found climbing a gate at Tom Cruise's mansion by shooting him with a taser late Sunday. But! It turned out to be a neighbor who, police told the AP, had too much to drink and may have stumbled into the yard accidentally. Awkward. Maybe we should have the security guards to the next block party, let everyone get to know each other? Cruise was not home at the time.

Horse Mask Guy gains fame, distracts from Hurricane Sandy
Oct 29th 2012, 17:07

Until Sandy unleashes its full fury on us, there's still time to laugh and enjoy a good meme while we can. Early this morning Jimmy Kruyne was just a dude. By late this morning he was nationally-known as Horse Mask Guy. And by this evening he'll probably be forgotten. That's how the meme world works. The hyper-cycle was on display this morning on Twitter as I watched Horse Mask Guy hysteria sweep my timeline.

Hurricane Sandy and the entertainment world's response
Oct 29th 2012, 15:12

If you're among the East Coasters waiting for Hurricane Sandy to swoop in and essentially punch your life in the face, several questions are likely racing through your mind. Will the wind gust hard enough to make squirrels fly? Do I have enough batteries to last through an 18-day power outage? Oh, also: How are the rich and famous coping with all this??

Read this: RGIII's fiancée Rebecca Liddicoat; Anthony P. Browne; Rubio's daughter; Trump's son
Oct 29th 2012, 14:36

Other interesting stories in The Washington Post:

Here finally is the story on Robert Griffin III's fiancée: Rebecca Liddicoat is from Colorado, they met at Baylor, and he proposed to her in 2010 ago with candlelight and a self-penned love song the night he scored four touchdowns against Kansas State. Also, she's white, and it's a total non-issue, as is noted in long and interesting profile by Dave Sheinin about RGIII as a post-racial hero.

Oct 29th 2012, 13:03

A morning mix of entertainment headlines...

A trespasser attempting to climb the fence at the home of Tom Cruise on Sunday was tasered by a security guard attempting to detain him until police arrived. (Cruise wasn't home at the time.) It turned out the stun gun wasn't particularly necessary: the guy was just a drunk neighbor who apparently tried to enter the property by accident. Hey, we've all mistaken Tom Cruise's luxurious Beverly Hills home for our own after a few cocktails. Am I right? (Associated Press)
