Dec 24th 2012, 13:30

If the Redskins reach the playoffs, it appears likely they will play either the Seattle Seahawks or San Francisco 49ers in the opening round.

The Redskins (9-6) would win the NFC East and be the fourth seed in the NFC playoffs if they beat the Dallas Cowboys (8-7) at home next Sunday night. In that case, they would likely host the Seahawks (10-5), who have clinched a playoff spot and appear on course to be the NFC's fifth seed.

And, to boot, there are even scenarios (play around with ESPN's playoff machine to generate your own) in which the Redskins could lose this clash and still get into the postseason as the wild card and No. 6 seed.
