| NHL, NHLPA to meet Tuesday Dec 2nd 2012, 22:54 The NHLPA has agreed to a league-proposed owners and players meeting Tuesday in New York as the two sides continue to search for traction in labor negotiations. The session, initially suggested by the league to as a meeting between owners and players only, will feature a group of six owners, approximately the same number of players and a few staff members from both sides. Neither NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman nor NHLPA Executive Director Donald Fehr will take part, though. Booker has missed the past five games since getting injured in a loss against Indiana nearly two weeks ago, but Coach Randy Wittman said on Sunday there is still "soreness and swelling" in Booker's knee and that the energetic forward wouldn't return for "probably another couple of weeks." London announced Sunday that he has fired defensive coordinator Jim Reid, defensive line coach/recruiting coordinator Jeff Hanson, tight ends coach Shawn Moore and running backs coach Mike Faragalli. In addition, safeties coach Anthony Poindexter will no longer be the Cavaliers' special teams coordinator, although he will remain on staff. Read full article >>  | | Rick Majerus remembered for love of basketball and life Dec 2nd 2012, 19:12 Rick Majerus was remembered Sunday with admiration for his coaching ability and affection for the relationship he had with his players. Majerus, 64, died Saturday night of heart failure in a Los Angeles hospital. A driven winner, his health betrayed him over the years, forcing him to take three leaves of absence at Utah and to undergo seven bypass procedures. Still, he won more than 70 percent of his games and took Utah to the 1998 national championship game. He took St. Louis University to the NCAA tournament for the first time in 12 years last spring, but had to take a leave of absence from the school in August as his condition deteriorated. By early fall, it was apparent that he would not return and there was quiet talk that his health was deteriorating rapidly.
