Dec 22nd 2012, 10:00

Don't spend much time doing your hair if headed out, and hold on to your hat — today is a windy one! If you're looking for the calmest time, you're waiting until after dark. Gusts as high as around 50 mph might cause some tree downings and power outages. Add in the chilly air, and it sure seems like winter has taken hold. After today, there's not much to think about till late Christmas Eve, when a little system passes by. A bigger weather event still looms after Christmas.

Dreaming of a new New Columbia
Dec 21st 2012, 22:08

Hark, citizens of the District. News of import. On Wednesday, at the close of both the 112th Congress and his career, retiring Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Quit) introduced the New Columbia Admission Act, which would transform the District of Columbia into the 51st state in the union. This is the first time in nearly 20 years that a D.C. statehood bill has been introduced in the Senate. It has no chance of passing.
