D.C. area forecast: Afternoon/evening wet snow or mix; calm Christmas, then stormy

Christmas week brings with it the most active winter weather of the season with three opportunities for precipitation of various types. We begin with the chance of snow or a rain/snow mix for the second half of today. A stronger storm brings mostly rain Wednesday (Boxing Day), but precipitation could start off as some sort of frozen mix west of town. Then, on Saturday, a third system may bring rain, snow or a mix.

District man dies of wounds; companion died Saturday

A 69-year-old man who was wounded in a weekend double shooting in the District has died, making the incident a double homicide.

Police said Nathaniel Beasley Jr. of Southeast Washington died Sunday. He had been found with gunshot wounds in a car about 1:45 a.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Bladensburg Road and admitted to a hospital in critical condition.

Robbers take packages from deliveryman in Southeast

With Christmas packages arriving all over Washington, one of the city's best-known clergymen found a more unusual but somewhat related sight on his steps: a robbery victim, facedown.

It was the driver of a FedEx delivery truck from which a load of packages had just been taken by three armed men, said the Rev. Willie F. Wilson, pastor of Union Temple Baptist Church in Anacostia.
