She is qualified and has bipartisan support. She does not dislike Israel or object to gays serving in government. "A woman of substance." Hmmm.

She had President Obama at the top of the ticket, but in 2014 Scott Brown's opponent won't have that help. He would be a strong candidate. "The poll, conducted by the MassINC Polling Group on Monday and Tuesday, finds voters view Brown favorably, despite the fact that in November they chose to elect Harvard law professor Elizabeth Warren in his stead. Fifty-eight percent of those polled say they have a favorable view of Brown, compared with 28 percent who view him unfavorably."

House Republicans embarrassed their speaker Thursday night by shutting down his Plan B to protect all but millionaires from a tax hike, come Jan. 1. How close was the GOP to having enough support for Speaker John Boehner's plan? A senior leadership aide replied glumly, "Not close enough."

Jonathan Bernstein: Enjoy the Republicans' debacle, but don't read too much into it

There was nothing but embarrassment for Speaker John Boehner and House Republicans tonight, as they were forced to pull the vote on Boehner's "Plan B" tax bill at the last minute because, as Boehner said, they didn't have the votes to pass it. The Speaker sent the House home for through Christmas, with the option of recalling them afterwards if there's anything for them to do.
