Police continue to investigate Capitol Hill slaying

The hunt for the killer of a 28-year-old man who was shot in his car two blocks from his Capitol Hill rowhouse early Monday continued a day later with little new information. A police report made public Tuesday did reveal one new detail, however: Jason Anthony Emma's black Audi was still running when police officers arrived to find him dead in the driver's seat.

3 killed, 2 critically injured in Christmas Eve vehicle incidents

Three people were killed and two were critically injured in four auto incidents in the Washington region the day before Christmas.

A woman in Arlington County was fatally injured about 5 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of North Glebe Road when a car jumped the curb after a collision, authorities said.

Tour bus operators fret that passengers may have a hike to presidential inauguration

Tour bus operators are raising concerns about the District's plans to accommodate their riders for the presidential inauguration, saying a ban on dropping passengers off at Metro stations could force people to walk as far as three miles to the Capitol from the main bus parking area at RFK Stadium.

Neither storm appears to a be a blockbuster, but each could present at least low to moderate impacts locally. The first storm arrives tomorrow, with the next one aiming for Saturday-Saturday night.

Md. shop worker fatally shoots man after break-in

An employee of a Glen Burnie coin shop shot and killed a man who had broken into the store Tuesday morning, police said.

Bryan Keith Phillip, 30, of Chester, Md, forced his way into the Arundel County Coin Shop at 7418 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard around 6:30 a.m. and encountered the employee, according to police.

Police: D.C. officer shoots robbery suspect

A police officer interrupted an armed robbery early Tuesday, chasing the gunman and shooting him several times during a standoff on a Southeast Washington street, according to a department spokesman.

Police said the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Paul Smith of Southeast, was being treated under guard at an undisclosed hospital. He was charged with kidnapping, robbery while armed and felony assault on a police officer, according to police. The extent of his injuries was unclear.

Two dead in Beltway crash in Chevy Chase

Two people were killed Monday night in a crash involving three vehicles on the outer loop of the Washington Beltway near Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase, according to Maryland State Police.

The victims who died — a 30-year-old woman and a 17-year-old male — were in a car whose driver lost control on a curve and slid across the highway, police said. The driver was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore in serious condition.
