Jennifer Rubin: Obama loses his 2008 coalition Oct 30th 2012, 15:17 Four years ago the Republican Party was in danger of losing status as a national party, pundits said. It was too white, too southern and too old. The GOP still has a long way to go with minority voters, but after President's Obama four years in office the Republican presidential ticket is appealing to women, voters in blue state strongholds and independents. Former President Bill Clinton, who is more appealing on the stump than is President Obama, is in Minnesota. Minnesota should be deep blue, and the state shouldn't even be mentioned one week before the election. The campaign schedules are unclear due to the storm, but Vice President Joe Biden was originally scheduled to be in his home state — even in his hometown of Scranton, Pa., — today. "Hurricane Sandy may delay the election season's final jobs and unemployment report, the Labor Department said Monday. The department will re-assess when to release the report — which was slated to come out Friday — when the weather emergency is over, said Gary Steinberg, a spokesman for the department's Bureau of Labor Statistics." It went something like "Let them freeze in the dark." I think I may have left out an epithet. Read full article >> | Hurricane Sandy: NYSE NOT flooded! Oct 30th 2012, 11:04 In what may be a news flash for some, the floor of the New York Stock Exchange is dry. Or at least not under multiple feet of water. That, anyway, was the report going around on Monday night, courtesy of CNN. According to a CNN spokeswoman, network meteorologist Chad Myers said on Piers Morgan's show that there were three feet of water on the floor of the exchange. Moments later, some doubt creeped into the messaging: Read full article >> | |
